New Delhi, September 9: India has strongly condemned the recent Houthi strikes targeting Saudi Arabia, calling attacks on civilian and economic infrastructure unacceptable. Responding to media queries about the reported attacks inside Saudi territory, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India condemned the strikes on Saudi Arabia’s sovereign territory, particularly the targeting of civilian and economic facilities.
Jaiswal said such aggressive actions undermine regional security and stability and pose a threat to freedom of navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb. He described the attacks as “unacceptable”.
In a statement, the Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry condemned and denounced “the terrorist Houthi militia’s targeting of civilian and economic assets in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, which resulted in the injury of 73 civilians, including women and children.” Adding, “The Kingdom also called upon the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.”
