New Delhi, September 8: The AI industry could be on the verge of a major shift. After years of debate over artificial general intelligence (AGI), Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believes OpenAI’s latest AI model, GPT-6 Astra, may have finally reached that stage.
In a post on X, Huang congratulated OpenAI for developing Astra just four years after the AI startup launched ChatGPT, declaring, “AGI has arrived.” He also said that Astra was “trained on ~100K plus Nvidia Grace Blackwell NVLink72.” Huang further revealed that Nvidia plans to bring more than 4,00,000 additional GPUs online soon.
AGI, or artificial general intelligence, is broadly used to describe AI capable of thinking and reasoning in ways similar to humans, or matching human abilities across a range of tasks. Experts say AGI could potentially surpass human knowledge. As AI models have grown increasingly capable, achieving AGI has become a key goal for several AI labs, including OpenAI and Anthropic.
