New Delhi, August 29: Nepal President Ramchandra Paudel on Saturday thanked President Droupadi Murmu for expressing concern and extending support following the devastating flash floods in Nepal, which have claimed hundreds of lives and caused widespread destruction.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Nepal, I extend our deepest gratitude to Your Excellency Smt Droupadi Murmu for your kind concern and also for the generous support and solidarity extended by your government following the recent calamity in Nepal,” the Office of the President of Nepal said in a post on X.
Paudel also expressed condolences to the Government and people of India over the loss of Indian nationals in the disaster on August 26. He offered his “heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy” to India over the tragic loss of lives.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in an X post dated August 28 that the third flight carrying assistance from India had reached Kathmandu.
“Relief supplies and an 11-member medical and tunnel rescue team are now on the ground,” Jaishankar said, highlighting India’s ongoing support for relief and rescue efforts following the disaster.
