New Delhi, August 14: Two mobile health units were flagged off in Lucknow on Friday to take maternal and adolescent healthcare services to people in vulnerable communities across 35 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The initiative, launched by the Uttar Pradesh government, State Transformation Commission and PD Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre, is part of the ‘Saving Lives, Building a Healthier Bharat’ campaign.
The mobile teams will screen pregnant and lactating women, provide counselling and refer those needing specialised care to higher health facilities. They will also visit government schools to screen students aged 11 to 19 for health problems, including anaemia and Type-1 diabetes, while providing health education and counselling.
Doctors from PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai will work alongside healthcare teams in the state. The mobile units will also distribute medicines and help patients access further treatment when required. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and senior health officials were present at the flag-off ceremony in Lucknow.
