New Delhi, September 19: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) swept the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections on Saturday, with Yash Dabas elected as the new president. In the presidential contest, Dabas secured 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI candidate Vijai Shankar Meena by a margin of 2,053 votes.
Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president’s post with 30,615 votes. Shokeen had contested the DUSU polls as an independent after being denied an NSUI ticket. ABVP’s Riya Chhawdi won the secretary’s post, while Lakshya Raj Singh secured the joint secretary’s position as the counting of votes concluded on Saturday.
The Delhi University results come days after ABVP won the president’s post at Panjab University for the second consecutive year. ABVP’s Ankit Bidhan was elected president of the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC).
