JioHotstar Expands To UK, Canada And Singapore With International Launch

JioHotstar has announced its international launch across the UK, Canada and Singapore, marking the next step in its vision of “Infinite Possibilities” and its journey towards becoming a global entertainment platform.

New Delhi, September 4: JioHotstar has announced its international launch across the UK, Canada and Singapore, marking the next step in its vision of “Infinite Possibilities” and its journey towards becoming a global entertainment platform. The launch brings JioHotstar’s extensive entertainment catalogue to new markets, offering audiences more than 160,000 hours of content across 12-plus languages and multiple genres. The platform will also offer personalised recommendations, interactive features, flexible subscription options and an enhanced product experience.

For audiences in the UK, Canada and Singapore, JioHotstar will bring premium Indian entertainment together on a single platform, covering television, films, regional programming, non-fiction, kids’ content and anime. The platform is aimed at the South Asian diaspora while also seeking to attract a wider global audience interested in diverse stories, languages and cultures. JioHotstar said it will continue to expand its catalogue, with more than 30,000 hours of fresh content to be added annually.

Commenting on the international expansion, Amit Malhotra, Head – International Business, JioStar, said streaming had spent the past decade competing on the size of its catalogue. He said the bigger opportunity now was to rethink how audiences experience entertainment, including how they discover and engage with content and shape the experience in real time.

Malhotra said South Asian audiences have a deep connection with Indian entertainment across languages, generations and households, while audiences globally are increasingly looking for stories and cultures beyond their own. He said JioHotstar sees an opportunity to build for this broader, underserved global audience rather than simply take an Indian streaming service to new markets.
