New Delhi, September 20: India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana created history on Sunday by becoming the all-time leading run-scorer in women’s T20 internationals, overtaking New Zealand’s Suzie Bates during the Asian Games women’s cricket semifinal against Bangladesh.
Mandhana entered the match with 4,758 T20I runs and moved past Bates’ tally of 4,758, taking her overall tally to 4,765 runs and counting. The milestone adds to a remarkable run of records for the 30-year-old batter. Earlier this month, Mandhana surpassed former India captain Mithali Raj to become the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket across all formats.
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is third on the list with 4,287 runs, followed by Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu with 4,282 and New Zealand’s Sophie Devine with 3,817.
Mandhana reached that landmark during India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Group A match against Hong Kong, scoring 124 off 64 balls. Her innings took her overall international tally to 10,880 runs, moving her past Mithali’s 10,868.
New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is third on the all-format list with 10,740 runs, followed by England’s Charlotte Edwards (10,273) and West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor (10,007). Mandhana’s 124 against Hong Kong also became the highest individual score in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history, surpassing Athapaththu’s unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in 2024.
