New Delhi, September 7: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has ordered the immediate sealing of all illegal constructions with more than four floors following the collapse of an accommodation in Satya Niketan. The civic body said strict action would be taken against officials found responsible, including their immediate dismissal.
In an X post, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi said, “The culprits of the Satya Niketan building incident in Delhi will not be spared under any circumstances. All illegal constructions with more than four floors will be immediately sealed, and strict action will be taken against the guilty officials, leading to their immediate dismissal.”
The Satya Niketan building, which was being used as a paying-guest accommodation, collapsed on Sunday afternoon, triggering a large-scale rescue operation involving the Delhi Fire Services, National Disaster Response Force and police personnel. At least six people were killed, and multiple others injured in the incident.
