New Delhi, September 3: Just months after the outfit Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) emerged, went viral on the internet and led a nationwide movement that resulted in Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as Education Minister, a new faction called ‘Cockroach Janta Party-Democratic’ (CJP-D) has been formed.
The faction has been founded by Manish Brahmbhatt, who has been identified as an activist in several reports. Brahmbhatt has levelled several allegations against the CJP, claiming that the outfit was “sold out and politicised” following the success of its Jantar Mantar protest.
“It (CJP) has now become ‘Team Kejriwal’,” Brahmbhatt said, as quoted by news agency ANI. He alleged that Abhijeet Dipke and others formed a 12-member team while “sitting in the comfort of their homes”. Brahmbhatt claimed that after the movement’s success, neither volunteers nor protesters were invited or consulted before the new team was formed. He also alleged that people connected with the movement through social media and Instagram were not consulted about the criteria for selecting members.
Instead, he claimed, the team was formed with eight people associated with the Aam Aadmi Party, along with a female friend and college friends. According to Brahmbhatt, they had proposed that the CJP’s new committee should be a national team with five members from every state, including protesters and volunteers from the respective regions.
He further said they had suggested that the team should not be selected by a “high command” or an “arbitrary authority figure”. However, he alleged that the suggestion was rejected and the team was formed arbitrarily. “The idea behind forming this team also originated with Arvind Kejriwal, as he has been deceitful from the very beginning,” Brahmbhatt reportedly alleged.
