New Delhi, September 1: The US military on Tuesday said it had begun striking targets belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in retaliation to attempted attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and on US service members stationed at the location.
In an X post, the US Central Command, “Today at 12 p.m. ET, U.S. forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran. The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region.”

The US military had on Sunday reportedly said it struck rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran responded by launching missiles at U.S. sites in Jordan, which were intercepted. The latest US strikes come amid heightened tensions involving Iran, the United States and the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
