New Delhi, August 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired the 53rd meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled, multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, at Seva Teerth.
During the meeting, PM Modi reviewed six key infrastructure projects in the Railway, Road and Power sectors across nine States, with a combined cost of more than ₹30,000 crore. The projects were discussed with a focus on improving connectivity, supporting industrial and economic activity and strengthening public services. The review also looked at project timelines, coordination between agencies, pending issues and ways to ensure their timely completion.
He said delays in infrastructure projects do more than increase costs as they also delay the benefits meant for citizens, businesses and the economy. He stressed that projects should be looked at as a whole rather than as separate sections or packages. Ministries and States were asked to take an end-to-end approach and address issues that could hold up the completion and operationalisation of projects.
PM Modi also called for exploring common utility corridors for infrastructure services wherever feasible, particularly when planning major transport and infrastructure projects. At the same time, he stressed that faster execution should not come at the cost of quality and called for greater use of modern technologies, along with stronger quality checks and supervision.
